Washington and Lee University's new John and Anne Wilson Hall, housing the departments of music and art, and named for former W&L president John D. Wilson and his wife Anne, will be dedicated on Friday, Oct. 27.

Wilson Hall contains a 300-seat state of the art Concert Hall, which will play host not only to the University's many student, faculty, and ensemble groups, but also world renowned concert artists. The Staniar Art Gallery is also an excellent venue for the works of student, faculty and professional artists.

Wilson Hall itself is a 65,000 square foot building project designed by the firm of Zimmer Gunsul and Frasca, and constructed by Brice Building Company of Birmingham, Ala. Brice Building is headed by Felix Drennen III, W&L Class of '73.

Among the 10 art studios and various classrooms in the new building are two darkrooms and a photography studio, a welding/kiln room, a sculpture studio, a drawing studio and painting studio and a slide study room for art history. The music department has 10 practice rooms and 14 music faculty studios, an electronic music lab and an ensemble practice room among others.

Wilson Hall is adjacent to the Lenfest Center, the home of the theater department, making all divisions of the fine arts come together. The addition of Wilson Hall completes the promise of a first-rate setting for serious music, art, theater, art history and photography.
