Jolene Flory joined the music faculty at Washington & Lee University in 2008 as Instructor of Voice and Aural Skills. She is also a member of the faculty at Mary Baldwin College as an Instructor of Voice and the Director of the Mary Baldwin Madrigal Singers. Ms. Flory holds the Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA.
Ms. Flory has worked as a professional soloist as well as a professional accompanist since receiving her Masters degree in 2005. She has studied and performed in a number of musical venues including Art Song, opera, and oratorio. She has performed the role of Susanna in scenes from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro as well as the role of Tisbe in scenes from Rossini’s La Cenerentola. In spring 2005, she performed in the cast of The Mighty Casey to commemorate the opening of the brand new Greensboro Grasshopper’s Baseball Stadium, performing the opera on the actual baseball field. In the genre of oratorio, Ms. Flory has performed as the soprano soloist in such works as the Vivaldi Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Rutter Magnificat, and Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio. Ms. Flory has appeared in numerous performances on the east coast, as well as traveling to Graz, Austria to study and perform in the venue of the Art Song with the American Institute of Musical Studies in the summer of 2002.
In addition to her positions at Washington & Lee University and Mary Baldwin College, Ms. Flory holds the position of Director of Music at Bethany Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, VA.
