The
University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Chris Magee, was formed in 1996 and has grown steadily since its inception. The repertoire of the ensemble ranges from classics from the glory days of the big band to world premiere compositions.

In addition to featured concerts each
semester, the UJE has been in constant demand by campus
and community organizations for appearances throughout the area. Performances include University Basketball games,
a dedication ceremony at Natural Bridge and as the featured band on the televised 250th
Gala Celebration. The UJE has also performed at benefit concerts for a variety of causes.
Since 1998 the UJE has accompanied the University Wind Ensemble on their overseas
tours including Australia, China and Russia.
