University-Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra (USSO) is a semi-professional student/community
orchestra which brings quality musical programs to the Shenandoah Valley. Conducted by Barry Kolman, professional
musicians join local residents and advanced students in 3-4 programs a year.

The Chamber Singers is a 26-member, highly select ensemble conducted by Shane Lynch. Membership is open to all W&L sophomores, juniors,

University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Peter Del Vecchio, was formed
in 1996 and has grown steadily since its inception. The repertoire of the ensemble ranges from classics from

Cantatrici (“excellent female singers”) is the newest ensemble at W&L. Made up of singers that represent a huge cross-section of the student body, Cantatrici sings regularly throughout the campus and community, focusing on regional touring and community outreach.

University Wind Ensemble, conducted by Barry Kolman, is a Concert Band consisting of approximately 65 talented college
students and local residents who perform two to three concerts on campus each academic
year.

The Men’s Glee Club is the oldest choral ensemble at W&L that dates
back to early 20th century. Based on the time-honored tradition of
men’s choral singing, the Glee Club performs regularly on campus, at

The students of Washington & Lee University lead some of their own groups that you can be involved with. Student leaders hold auditions each term as space becomes available. These groups cannot be taken for credit.
