Music @ Washington & Lee University PDF Print E-mail

The W&L Music Department offers a music major leading to the B.A. in Music. Students can major in sequences including Musicology, Performance, or Theory/Composition. Participation in the Department's instrumental and choral ensembles along with private instruction for all instruments and voice is open to all W&L students for credit.

The Department offers numerous concerts each year including those by student ensembles, our Concert Guild series, and Sonoklect, the new music/jazz series. Performances are held in the state-of-the-art Wilson Concert Hall, which opened in August of 2006, and the Lenfest Center for the Performing Arts. Department Ensembles regularly tour the United States and Europe.

Music Business Seminars are held twice a year and focus on current topics in the music industry. This seminar brings together two speakers to discuss the effects of technology on the music business and features a demonstration of modern recording techniques.
