The University Chorus, under the direction of Jerry Myers, performed for audiences in Germany over the 2007 Spring Break. The 26-member ensemble, taken from the 60-member Chorus, performed in Steingaden, Köppern, Leipzig, and Halleben.
Elizabeth Cameron, '07, was a founding member of the Colonnade String Quartet. She was a cellist in the University-Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra and played in various chamber ensembles. Elizabeth graduated with a degree in European history and is attending graduate school in nursing.
The W&L Music Department offers a music major
leading to the B.A. in Music. Students can major in sequences including Musicology,
Performance, or Theory/Composition. Participation in the Department's instrumental and
choral ensembles along with private instruction for all instruments and voice is open to
all W&L students for credit.
The Department offers numerous concerts each year including those by
student ensembles, our Concert Guild series, and Sonoklect, the new music/jazz series. Performances are held in
the state-of-the-art Wilson Concert Hall, which opened in August of 2006, and
the Lenfest Center for the Performing Arts. Department Ensembles regularly tour the United States and Europe.
