The University Chorus, under the directon of Jerry Myers, performed recently at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV. The Chorus performed during a dinner for The Greenbrier's President and Advisory Board and later for an audience of 250 resort guests.
Catherine Swan, '07 received her BA in Music with a concentration in Theory/Composition. During her tenure at W&L, she also studied choral conducting, served as a student conductor of the University Chorus and Chamber Singers, and received K-12 licensure in music.
The W&L Music Department offers a music major
leading to the B.A. in Music. Students can major in sequences including Musicology,
Performance, or Theory/Composition. Participation in the Department's instrumental and
choral ensembles along with private instruction for all instruments and voice is open to
all W&L students for credit.
The Department offers numerous concerts each year including those by
student ensembles, our Concert Guild series, and Sonoklect, the new music/jazz series. Performances are held in
the state-of-the-art Wilson Concert Hall, which opened in August of 2006, and
the Lenfest Center for the Performing Arts. Department Ensembles regularly tour the United States and Europe.
